Recommended Viewing: In The French Style (1963)
Jean Seberg and Phillippe Forquet
I spent the majority of last week bedridden with a particularly nasty bout of the flu. Thankfully, I had Turner Classic Movies to keep me company throughout my recovery. During this time, I watched quite a few films, including In The French Style (1963) starring the lovely Jean Seberg as an American art student living in France. The film follows Catherine (Seberg) over the course of four years and several love affairs as she makes the transition from idealistic adolescent to sophisticated, worldly young woman. After her father pays a visit, Catherine finds herself caught between a passionate romance and the carefree, glamorous joie de vivre of the jet-setting Parisian elite on the one hand and the more mundane realities of familial obligation and adult responsibility back in the States on the other. Notably, the film also features Phillippe Forquet, former fiancée of Sharon Tate, in the role of Catherine’s teenage lover, Guy.
Unfortunately, as is the case with many of Seberg's films, In The French Style is currently unavailable on DVD. Hopefully this will change in the not-so-distant future. I'd highly encourage anyone who appreciates 1960s cinema or French culture to watch this film. And of course, it is a must-see for any Jean Seberg fan!

Icon: Barbara Parkins

Anne Welles has always been my least favorite Valley Of The Dolls character, but Barbara Parkins brought a much needed sense of glamour and sophistication to the role.
An interesting bit of trivia: Barbara was Sharon Tate's maid of honor in her wedding to Roman Polanski. She even caught the bridal bouquet!

A Tribute To My Idol, Sharon Tate
January 24, 1943 - August 9, 1969
Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of the passing of beloved 60s actress, Sharon Tate. Something about Sharon's story profoundly resonates with me on a personal level. By all accounts, she was a remarkably beautiful, kind, and down-to-earth person. She was also a talented and bright rising star as well as an expectant mother.
It is a huge disservice to Sharon's legacy that she is often remembered for the wrong reasons. Sharon Tate was so much more than just a murder victim. I strongly believe that a greater emphasis should be placed on the amazing life that she led during her all too brief time on Earth rather than focusing solely on her tragic death.
Please honor Sharon's memory by visiting the Tate Family Legacy Website. The work that they're undertaking is incredibly important and deserving of your time and attention.
I love you, Sharon. You will always live on in the hearts of your loved ones and devoted fans. Gone, but never forgotten.

Exclusive! - Sharon Tate by David Bailey
Sharon Tate is my all-time favorite actress and style icon. In my opinion, Sharon was the living embodiment of everything the Swinging Sixties represented. She was beauty, grace, and kindness personified.
I started collecting Sharon Tate memorabilia about three years ago. Since then, I've been lucky enough to acquire many unique treasures which I plan to showcase on this blog.
Recently, I stumbled across these extremely rare original vintage photographs of Sharon, and just couldn't resist adding them to my personal collection. The following images were shot by famed 60s photographer David Bailey on the set of the film, The Fearless Vampire Killers in 1966.
Please DO NOT repost these scans without my express consent. Thank you and enjoy!
