Yes, I'm still alive.

Hello everyone,

I know that it's been a while. The last four years have been extremely hectic and life-changing for me. I moved from Austin to Dallas and then New York City. After spending almost two years in Brooklyn, I recently made my dream of living in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan a reality. I truly feel at home here and this city inspires me in many different ways. Unfortunately, I was so caught up in getting settled and advancing my career that I didn't have much time or energy left to work on this blog. It was always in the back of my mind as something that I wanted to do but I just never got around to it. I am extremely flattered by all of the kind comments that I've received throughout my hiatus. Please know that your thoughts are very much appreciated even if I haven't responded to each of you directly. Thank you for taking the time to visit my little labor of love. I have continued to collect vintage 1960s memorabilia over the years. Currently, I'm in the process of scanning everything to post here. You can expect a major overhaul of this blog in the upcoming weeks. I have big plans that I'm very excited to share with you, my dear readers. Be sure to check back soon. Until then...

xoxo

Recommended Viewing: Viva (2007)

I recently checked out the film Viva (2007) at the suggestion of my friend Michael Shirley. Written and directed by Anna Biller (who also takes on the title role), Viva is a homage to late 60s/early 70s sexploitation film. (Think Radley Metzger or Russ Meyer.) The plot centers around Barbi, a frustrated housewife, who finds herself caught up in the sexual revolution happening in 1972 Los Angeles. I'm not usually that impressed by 60s/70s period movies, but Biller has clearly done her homework. The visual style of the film is stunning and truly evocative of the time period. I often forgot that I was watching a film from 2007! Also, the dialogue is totally hilarious. I only wish that more movies like this were made today!
